Case Study: 2024 Institutional Annual Report
The Challenge
As a non-profit healthcare organization, Grace Health needed to communicate its yearly impact to a diverse group of stakeholders, including board members, community partners, and patients. The challenge was to move beyond a dry “financial summary” and create a document that felt human, transparent, and reflective of the high-quality care provided across its facilities.
The Strategy: Cross-Functional Leadership & Data Translation
To produce the most comprehensive and visually impactful Annual Report in the organization’s history, I led a massive collaborative effort across the entire leadership structure:
- Executive Stakeholder Management: Orchestrated content and data collection from the full C-Suite (CEO, CFO, CMO, COO) and Directors across Operations, Pharmacy, Behavioral Health, Dental, Human Resources, IT, Quality, and Risk and Compliance.
- Narrative Transformation: Acted as lead editor for submissions from various department directors and managers. I translated technical, raw internal updates into “report-worthy” professional copy, ensuring a consistent and engaging brand voice throughout the publication.
- Complex Data Visualization: While working closely with the Finance Director to ensure fiscal accuracy, I took the lead on data storytelling. I transformed dense metrics into intuitive graphs and infographics designed to be understood by every reader, from governing bodies and board members to patients and community members.
- Iterative Excellence: Leveraging insights from two previous years, I refined the production process to ensure this third edition was the organization’s highest-quality transparency tool to date.
The Solution
I managed the entire production lifecycle of the 2024 Annual Report. This included the initial conceptualization, “on-the-ground” photography, graphic design of the layout, editing of submissions, and coordination with the print vendor. I also created a digital-friendly version to share on social media, email, and the company’s website. The final result was a high-fidelity, professional publication that balanced clinical excellence with heartfelt community impact.
The Results
- Standardized Stewardship: Successfully produced the organization’s primary tool for financial and mission transparency.
- Streamlined Communication: Received positive feedback from executive leadership and board members for the report’s ability to communicate complex growth in an accessible format.
- Integrated Brand Asset: The visual style created for the report reflected the company’s newest marketing materials, ensuring a cohesive brand voice.
